| ABOUT
THE NOOSA BEACH CLASSIC CAR CLUB.... |
| Who
are we ? |
| The
Noosa Beach Classic Car Club is a motoring club situated on
the Queensland Sunshine Coast that caters for enthusiasts interested
in vehicles of any marque, age or type. There is a current
membership of approx. 280 people of all ages with cars ranging
from Morris Minor to Ferrari.
|
| What
do we do ? |
| Each
year the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club stages two major events,
the Noosa Beach Car Classic "Noosa Classic" and the Noosa Historic Racing Car
Hillclimb "The Hill".As well as these the calendar is filled up with interesting
motoring runs, usually terminating with a barbecue or other social
activity. We are invited to attend, as a group many other organisation’s
activities, like the annual vintage aircraft fly-in and various
club concourses that are organised in South East Queensland .
|
|
Are we a charitable organisation ? |
| Each
year the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club disperses the profit
earned from the activities to worthy local charities. We have donated
over $65,000 to various charities since inception. Some of
the recipients include the State Emergency Service, Rotary,
Blue Nurses, Rural Fire Brigade, Volunteer Coastguard, also the
Sunshine Beach High School, Noosa District High and Coolum High for Student Driver Training.
|
| How
long have we been formed ? |
| The
first event was held in 1988 when a group of enthusiasts assembled
17 cars for the first “Car Classic”. This was in response
to the local main street traders request to join in their “Street
Party” to promote the Hastings Street area. Some of those
first cars included a 1905 Renault , 1926 Bentley and a 1926
Salmson racecar. The next year there were 47 entries and 120
in the third year’s event. Growth has continued , we expect over 300
cars to assemble at this year’s Car Classic in September a
far cry from the 17 original exhibitors .
|
| Who
runs the Club? |
| We
have an Executive Committee consisting of elected President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Editor, Membership Secretary, Social Secretary and Web Master.
Two sub committees report to the Executive , one being the Noosa
Classic Committee the other the Hillclimb Committee. Each committee
meets on average once a month.
|
| Do
we seek sponsorship ? |
| As
a charitable organisation we are keen to establish working relations
with commercial enterprise to assist with the running cost of
our major events.
The Car Classic is happy to have Shannons Insurance return as
the principal sponsor and the Viridian Noosa Resort provide the
main support for the Hillclimb.
New sponsors are always welcome.
|
| Are
we Incorporated ? |
| The
Noosa Beach Classic Car Club is an Incorporated Association formed
under constitution approved by the Queensland Government Office
of Fair Trading . We carry public risk insurance and cover our
members against injury while working as a volunteer on Club activities.
We are exempt from charging G.S.T.
|
| How
do we communicate ? |
Our
Club Editor produces a Newsletter "Classic Lines" each month, we have a Calender
of Events, Forums, News and Messaging on this web-site and our Social
Secretary e-mails the members. |
